I recently got an email from Yahoo! regarding their photo service.

Dear Yahoo! Photos user,

For some time now, we’ve supported two great photo sharing services: Yahoo! Photos and Flickr. But even good things come to an end, and we’ve decided to close Yahoo! Photos to focus all our efforts on Flickr — the award-winning photo sharing community that TIME Magazine has called “completely addictive.”

We will officially close Yahoo! Photos on Thursday, September 20, 2007, at 9 p.m. PDT. Until then, we are offering you the opportunity to move to another photo sharing service (Flickr, KODAK Gallery, Shutterfly, Snapfish, or Photobucket), download your original-resolution photos back to your computer, or buy an archive CD from our featured partner (for users of the New Yahoo! Photos only). All you need to do is tell us what to do with your photos before we close, after which any photos remaining on Yahoo! Photos will be deleted and no longer accessible.

Of course, we hope you’ll join us at Flickr (you can even use your Yahoo! ID), but we also realize that Flickr may not be for everyone. In the end, we want you to find the service that’s right for you, and we hope you take some time to learn more about your options before making this important decision.

Please give us your decision by Thursday, September 20, 2007, at 9 p.m. PDT. After that time, any photos remaining in Yahoo! Photos will be deleted. Click here to make your decision, or review a list of our frequently asked questions.

And if you visit their site http://photos.yahoo.com, login and it will take you to a similar message. Looks like they will be focusing their resources on improving Flickr. I’ve tried it but hated the free account allowed you to only have 3 photosets (albums). Other than that, it’s pretty cool. I still use Picasaweb from Google. No limit on albums and monthly bandwidth, but you have 1GB of space (for now). All other photos I use Phanfare. It’s not free but they do pretty much everything that the other services do – and I don’t have to shrink the photos since it’s unlimited. Plus it supports videos!

Recently my WordPress themes have been resetting to the default theme by themselves. It was weird, I changed my theme and 10-15 minutes later it would use the default theme. I googled it and found numerous sites with the same problem. Many blame the Alex King plugin and how it’s not installed properly, but I’m not using it. So I started to play around with different things. First I disabled all the plugins – that didn’t work. Then I used a theme from months ago where this problem didn’t exist – that didn’t work either. So that led me to believe that it’s not the plugins or the themes I’m using.

Then I remembered that I set my old domain (sherwinm.com) to use this site’s database so that if anyone visits my old site, they will automatically be tracked with this blog and be sent here. My other domain doesn’t use the same theme. So whenever someone accesses this blog via sherwinm.com, it automatically thinks that the theme is invalid and resets it to default. Being that it uses this site’s database, this site also gets affected. I deleted the blog and just used the traditional redirect code and viola! problem fixed. Hope this helps some of you who still are having problems.
