So far the touch is very impressive. I’m currently writing this entry on it. The 16GB isn’t too bad. I would have to create a playlist since my library is far beyond 16GB. A couple of things I noticed right away:
- The keyboard on portrait view is narrower than in landscape. You will be able to see a part of what your typing in portrait. In landscape, since the area is wider, the keyboard is easier to type but you will not be able to see what you’re typing. It may be a setting that I haven’t discovered yet.
- The touch is thinner and lighter than the iPhone.
- There is a youtube application installed. But since there is no Flash plugin yet, going to youtube.com, you will not be able to view the videos. You can only view the videos via the application. Too bad you can’t login to your youtube account when using the application.
- You cannot add a calendar event. You may be able to edit but since I haven’t synced my iCal yet, I don’t know.
- You can add and edit contacts.
- You can purchase songs off iTunes Music Store.
Now these are my first thoughts. I haven’t gone home and fully synced it on my G5. I will post more later when I have more time to play with it.

I was surprised to find out the Apple stores started to sell them before September 28th. I called the Victoria Gardens and Brea location and they were sold out. Finally found on in the Manhattan Beach location. So I rushed over there with a co-worker so that we can jump on the carpool lane. 25 minutes and $432 later, I got my new iPod touch. That’s solves my “should I buy an iPhone” question. No iPhone for me thanks. I’ll play with it over the weekend and do a review soon.

After reading this article http://www.engadget.com/2007/09/11/iunlock-released-the-first-free-open-source-iphone-sim-unlock/, I am one step closer into changing my mind about getting an iPhone. Yes, I blogged about the reasons why I wouldn’t get one, but if I’m able to use it on T-Mobile’s network, I may change my mind about it. Still part of me says to wait for the iPod Touch with the 16GB drive and/or wait for the new iPhone (rumor has it that it will be released close to Christmas season) which will have 3G support and have the 16GB flash drive.
So far it’s a 2 step process. You must first “jailbreak” your iPhone before you can use the iUnlock (or iBrickr for Window$). And the process involves SFTP and SSH. I can do it, but I’m too lazy to go through all the steps. I may wait for the “GUI” version before I’ll make my decision so that I can click “Next, Next, OK”. I wonder what those people are feeling that actually paid $99 to get their iPhone unlocked after this free method was released. Seeing that, I may wait.

I still haven’t had a chance to get the new Kanye West album, Graduation. I’ll probably go and buy it on my lunch break. But anyway, I was browsing the internet and saw these…

and

The top pair are from Bape (Bathing Ape) and the bottom are custom Air Max 180. I don’t know about the Air Max 180s but the Bape pair is nice looking. Wonder where I can get a pair?

Vonage introduced new unlimited international plans as an additional to the existing unlimited US calls plan ($24.99/month). They have the Basic, Enhanced, Europe, Asia, and Mexico & Latin America plans. You can check out the different plans at http://www.vonage.com/lp/US/world. But why isn’t Philippines listed? Is PLDT or the government there still trying to halt the progression of VOIP technology? Well at least we have a Vonage unit there where Abby can call her family whenever she fells like it - and vice versa. But it’s limited to that location only. Wouldn’t it be great if they have Philippines as part of this plan? I’d get another unit here in the US and will be able to call all my relatives in the Philippines, where ever they are. Lets hope they do something soon.
